Dymo DiscPainter Color Printer -New Addition to Dymo Label Printer Range

While Dymo has a large label printer range, the Dymo DiscPainter is a specialist machine designed to print directly to disc, and is getting many favorable comments from buyers.

Dymo DiscPainter

Priced at just under $280, the Dymo DiscPainter is quiet, fast, easy to use and gives good results.

When running at 600 dpi (normal) will label a disc in 60 seconds!   Most users will run at 1200 dpi to get the higher quality.

It has a small footprint (great if your working space is limited), with no accessories or trays to keep track of. The ink dries quickly - no waiting around.

Dymo Discpainter Uses Printable Discs

Because the Dymo DiscPainter is a print to disc unit, you must use the special discs called injet-printable discs.   They are freely available as standard-size CDs and DVDs, and are also available as mini (80mm) CDs, DVDs and DVRs (which are for camcorders).

The DiscPainter prints on the full surface of the disc; Dymo suggest you print your data first before printing the label.

Depending on the result you want, you can use either glossy or matt discs. However, the machine does not accept thermal discs, which also have a white printable surface but must not be confused with discs for injet units.

The DiscPainter uses 4 colors and so does not deliver quite the standard you would get from the higher-end 6-color inkjets.

The DiscPainterâ„¢ printer uses a special cartridge (part number 1738252); these are widely available from local suppliers, or can also be bought direct from Dymo.

Special Warning System for Dymo Discpainter Cartridges

The system has a built-in warning light system that gives a quick check on ink levels. You get a yellow when the level falls below 20% and a solid red when it hits 5%.

As with most modern printers, changing cartridges is quick and easy.
Runs on Mac or PC (but won't run under 64-bit Vista).
