Label Maker Software | Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker

It’s obviously not enough to have a DVD label printer – you also need a way to create the label itself – and that is where the Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker Software comes in.
Some printers come complete with CD DVD label making software and you can also find free stuff on the Internet – but the quality and the flexibility of the CD label software you get this way certainly does vary.
However, if you’re searching for really solid CD label maker software, then it will be well worth your while to look at the Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker.
You can take it for a test run at no risk. There’s a trial version of the latest release (Version 3.33) and you can use for seven days (after which the print facility is disabled), and that should be more than enough time to decide if this CD label maker software meets your needs.

==> Click to download a free trial version of Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker <==

Label Maker Software | No Fuss, No Bother with Acoustica

Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker is a sensible purchase for those who want print CD labels with a minimum of fuss and bother, as it comes with more than 500 templates. In fact, the makers of this CD label maker software claim to support 99% of all stock CD labels and templates for jewel cases.

The software supports more than 100 printers (from Canon, Epson, EZ/CD, HP Photosmart, Microboards, Primera, Rimage, Systor and others) and a long list of paper labels and insert papers.

And you can change the output target at any time – you can design for one type of paper, and then switch to another on the fly, or even decide to print direct to disc.
There is one “Gotcha” to be aware of if you’re in the market for a new printer as well as CD label maker software.

It appears that Epson has a patent that stops Canon from releasing in the United States versions of their printers that can print direct on to a CD or DVD. So check carefully before you buy.

Label Maker Software | Acoustica Supports Hundreds of Brands

Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker Software will work with hundreds of brands and models of label stickers for CDs, DVDs, and mini-CDs, and will also support those printers that can print direct to disc. In addition to printing disc labels, Acoustica Label Maker will also output jewel, DVD and blu-ray case labels.
For those who produce compilations or their own special event discs, there are custom designs for holidays and other special events such as birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and vacations.
Alternatively, if you prefer a more hands-on CD label designer, you can use your own pictures in JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIF, GIF, PCX, and WMF formats, and set up the images, font and text exactly the way you want them.
Once you’ve created your label designs, you can export them as JPEG, PNG or BMP files so that you can use them either with other software, or hand them over to a third party printing service.
The label maker software design options allow you to choose to have text that is either circular or spiral, and there are a number of ways to lay out track listings. You can have multiple columns, or put multiple tracks in each line. With Acoustica Label Maker Software you can wrap text on both sides of the hole in the DVD or CD, or even list the tracks in a spiral format.
There’s a long, long list of design options – click here to check out the Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker Software in much more detail.

Label Maker Software | Acoustica Compensates for Printer Misalignment

In addition to catering for a host of design options, the label maker software also tries to compensate for less-than-perfect printers.
For instance, there’s a wizard that will adjust for printers that are out of alignment; if the alignment can’t be totally fixed, you can fade the edges when you’re using printable discs so that any white edges around the disc will look more natural.
There’s also an automatic bleed (in other words, an extra printed area a little larger than the normal cutoff) for paper labels and inserts that also helps to compensate for incorrect printer alignment.

==> Click to download a free trial version of Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker <==

The label maker software will handle audio, data, and video playlists, and you can choose to show or hide various fields (such as artist or title) in individual tracks. You can also edit each track field individually.

Label Maker Software | Acoustica’s Built-in Software Wizards

It is very user friendly, with wizards to help you every step of the way.
You can make a number of changes to the background images. You can change colors, swop colors, make the image lighter or darker, or even rotate it.
If you’re a music lover with your own compilations or backup discs, there’s no need to cut and paste information – you can automatically import songs from a wide range of programs, including Acoustica’s own MP3 CD Burner, Winamp, Nero, iTunes and Easy CD Creator.
If you create a compiled disc, or already have such discs, the label maker software will automatically create a track list for use on the DVD CD label you design.
If you’re an iTunes user, you can automatically import iTunes playlists.
Do be aware that some users have reported problems using the Track List Manager, so this is something you might need to check out before making a final purchase decision.

Label Maker Software | Support for LightScribe

Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker Software offers support for a number of printers that print direct to disc. Alternatively, if you choose to print on to labels rather than direct to DVD or CD, Acoustica also provides templates for a wide range of preset paper labels.
The software supports LightScribe technology, but remember that you’ll need a LightScribe-compatible drive. There’s a real-time preview of LightScribe disc colors, so you can check the way your disc will look without having to launch the print-preview dialog to check.
Note also that it is very DVD and CD specific, so you won’t find support for other label formats.
Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker is inexpensive and comprehensive label maker software and is an easy-to-use solution for those who need to know how to make CD labels.

==> Click to download a free trial version of Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker <==

CD DVD label printing is becoming both easier and far more common, now that the digital industry has realized that desktop users are creating media both at home and at the office, sometimes on quite a small scale, but sometimes in very respectable volumes.

All these new media discs need to be labeled; a CD DVD label printer makes it much easier to organize and archive home collections, and makes business CD DVD label printing look that much more professional.

There are many CD label maker and CD label software packages available, with templates that take the worry out of the design part of the labeling work, even if you don’t have original artwork and are not very creative.

And of course it is both legal and important to make backup copies of material you legitimately own. The typical home user, who probably burns fewer than a dozen discs a month, can choose from a range of machines priced from less than $100 to something around $500.

Smaller corporate users that produce 10 times that number probably still would not want to go to the professional disk duplicating companies, but would prefer to do the work in-house and will be able to afford the larger volume machines, where prices will be anything up to $5000 or so.

CD DVD Label Printing – Better than Handwritten Scribbles

Very infrequent users might decide to stick with a handwritten scribble on the face of the disc, using a sharpie (although sharpies can damage the cheaper CDs), but increasing numbers of users are going the label printing route, choosing one of three options:

You can print labels directly on to label paper or foil, and then fix the label on to the face of the CD or DVD;

You can print directly on to the face of the disc with an inkjet or a thermal label printer;

Or you can go the HP route and use LightScribe technology to etch graphics and text straight on to the disc.

There are some issues with HPs Lightscribe, which needs special high-quality discs, and the technique is probably best for users with quite a lot of technical ability. Printing on to stick-on labels brings its own problems.

The labels have been known to peel loose and damage the drive, and there can be issues with higher bearing pressures that can also damage a disc drive. But stick-on labels are in widespread use, so the system obviously does work for many thousands of people.

Thermal CD DVD Label Printer

Your final option of a thermal cd dvd label printer, which uses a ribbon to transfer the text to the face of the disc, and which works best with labels that have a lot of text and perhaps a logo, but no graphics.

The less-expensive machines products print in one color only, the most common being black, red, blue or green.

Thermal printers don’t need special discs, and will work well on normal CDs or DVDs. The cheaper thermal DVD printers link to your computer via the USB port (there are also a few handheld models) and tend to be one-color only; the price rises quite steeply once you opt for full color.

These DVD label printers use thin ribbons in various colors that are transferred to the surface of the disc in a process that creates a surface that is both smudge proof and scratch proof.

Brands and products to consider in this area are the CD Dimensions Discprinter, the DiskMakers U-print, the Teac P11, the Brother PT80 and the Casio CW e60, which normally come complete with cables and accessories such as AC mains adapters.

Thanks to the many options available, CD DVD label printing now offers many advantages – good looks, easy archiving and retrieval for the home user, and a much improved corporate image for the business user.

CD DVD label software can be of huge help to the home user and also to the Small Office or Small Home Office operator. The category includes a number of distinct sub-sectors; those of most interest to the lower volume user include:

Address Label Software;

CD/DVD/cassette Label Software; and

Barcode Label Software.

Prices for DVD label software range from free to “quite pricey”, and frankly you don’t need to pay a lot to get some excellent software. In fact, you may not have to pay at all.

There are some excellent free programs available, and a lot more inexpensive options via the shareware sites. A quick visit to the search engines will give you dozens of options to consider.

What do you want to label? If your need is not too specialized, you can find lots of software that will deal handily with a multitude of product categories.

For instance, if you run a business, you might need address and shipping labels, labels for CDs/ DVDs labels, audio tapes and/or ZIP disks, and so on.

CD DVD Label Software for Home Users

If you’re a home user, what about organising your video, DVD and CD collection? In this case, look for label software that will is flexible enough to allow you to use a CD DVD label printer (either your existing printer, or perhaps a specialized machine).

And if you run a small (or perhaps not so small) business from home, your needs might extend to envelopes, postcards, perhaps a flyer or three, invitations…

You can find label software that will automatically import track information from a number of CD burning programs, play lists or even another CD. It will handle jewel case covers, inserts and spines for CDs, DVDs and audio and video cassettes.

CD DVD label software makes sense if you consistently send out a relatively large number of letters (envelopes would normally take too long to feed through the typical ink jet or laser found in SOHO businesses) or if you mail oversized envelopes or packages (such as CDs and DVDs), or other lumpy items.

Some DVD label software comes complete with built-in databases, but most will work best when used in tandem with any of the contact management databases now available.

CD DVD Label Software with Design Templates

You’ll also come across label software with a strong design component that will enable you to produce business cards and flyers, often from pre-built templates. You’ll also find graphics, textures and backgrounds in such packages, or they will allow you to import your own designs and graphics.

Demonstration (sometimes crippled in some way) and trial software (often the full package, but with a time limitation) are freely available, and it’s very easy to try before you buy – and very sensible.

There are a number of large label manufacturers who produce a vast range of labels between them, and good software can cope with all the common formats. At least one DVD label software package can handle 2500 different formats!

Another option is to acquire label software that is specially designed for thermal printers; smaller operations are most likely to work with direct thermal printers, which print directly onto heat-sensitive paper, rather like pre-treated fax paper.

They’re quiet, easy to use and inexpensive. Of course, you’re tied into proprietary products, software and consumables, but as long as they suit your purpose, does it really matter?
So – lot’s of things to consider, but there’s plenty of information available and it’s hard to make a serious mistake when you acquire your new CD DVD label software.

If you’re going for simple graphics and text-heavy labels, then a thermal CD DVD label printer is a good option to consider.
<ins><ins id="aswift_0_anchor"></ins></ins>

What are the pros and cons of a thermal CD DVD label printer?

They’re a very good choice if you want to print relatively simple graphics, logos and lots of text. They also give a very hard-wearing finish.

But you won’t get the sort of photographic results that you will from an inkjet DVD printer, because they don’t handle colors well, can only create tones by dithering, and use a relatively low print resolution.

Thermal CD DVD label printers use heat to transfer information via a thin ribbon that runs between the disc and the print head. Their production costs are lower than inkjet label printers when printing one or two colors, and about the same as an inkjet when in full color mode.

Once you get into full color thermal label printers you are into the area of the professional producers. Higher volume machines start at about $4000 and climb steadily as you look for greater speed and throughput.

Two close cousins of the color thermal label printers are thermal re-transfer and dye sublimation, but these technologies require substantial initial investment and are best left to the professional disc duplication companies.

Low Volume Thermal CD DVD Label Printer Options

For the low volume user, here are some options to weigh up.

If you go the inkjet CD DVD label printer route, you can choose between a conventional printer that you will need to use with special pre-printed label sheets, or alternatively go for a printer that will print directly to the disc and act as a DVD label printer . Be aware that some of these direct-print units need a special tray called a caddy that enables you to print directly on to a disc.

<ins><ins id="aswift_0_anchor"></ins></ins> The older Epson units tend to use a caddy; the newer ones, such as the Artisan range, do not.

Choosing a machine that can print direct to disk has the obvious benefit that when you are not printing labels, your printer can earn its keep doing other printing tasks.

The drawback is that the special caddy required can be very temperamental; some brands have a well-publicised need to be cleaned and restarted frequently if they are used for more than a few disc labels at any one time.

The caddy puts extra strain on the printer rollers, making them wear faster and affecting the accuracy of the paper feed.

If you don’t fancy the special tray route, then you are committed to stick-on labels using specially-designed label stock with pre-cut shapes and proprietary application systems to help you to apply the printed label accurately.

If you do go this route make sure you pick a brand with a special system to apply the label once it has been printed; trying to put a label on free hand is asking for trouble and possibly a damaged DVD or CD drive in very short order.

Other options include the choice between a printer with individual ink cartridges and those that have a single 4-color cartridge.

Drawbacks To Inkjet CD DVD Label Printer with Caddy.

The caddies can be a bit temperamental and can need careful handling. If you prefer to keep away from stick-on labels, you could consider the type of label printer that will print direct on to the face of the disc. These machines are available either as inkjet printers or thermal CD DVD label printers.

You have to use special printable discs if you got the inkjet route, otherwise the ink will not stick properly and you will end up with a smudged design.

These discs are a little more expensive, but of course you are saving the money that you would have had to spend on stick-on labels.

The print output is normally very good, and naturally you don’t have to spend time mounting the printed labels on to the disks – and trying to make sure you do the job perfectly so that you don’t have any peeling label problems in the future.

More compact

Specialised direct to disc inkjet CD DVD label printers tend to be smaller than normal inkjet printers, which can be a real advantage if working space is limited. And of course they don’t have any accessories or trays that also take up storage space with conventional inkjet printers.

Always remember that the cartridge or cartridges the inkjet printer requires is an expensive item.

There is a very sharp price divide in this category.

While the Dymo Discpainter retails for less than $300, an automatic unit like the Primera Bravo SE Autoprinter is about $1000, and as you add features and speed the price for a CD DVD Label Printer climbs steeply past the $5000 mark.

But always remember that some reputable authorities advise against the stick-on labels that you will get from your inkjet CD DVD label printer, and the cheaper choice could prove expensive if you damage your disc drive.

Why a CD DVD Label Printer makes more sense than using a hand-written label.

There are some very good reasons to use a CD DVD label printer, and equally good reasons not to go with handwritten text using a permanent marker, commonly known as a sharpie.

<ins><ins id="aswift_0_anchor"></ins></ins> Quite apart from looks and ease of indexing, there are some issues with using marker pens on CDs and DVDs:

With cheap discs, the media itself is just below the printing layer and there is a chance the life expectancy of the CD will be reduced by the solvents in markers or adhesive labels (although this is not as much of a problem with a DVD, which is constructed differently to a CD);

If the discs are destined for anyone’s eyes but your own, they won’t look very professional;

It is much more difficult to find the one item you’re searching for among a heap of discs all with similar-looking scribbles on them.

So, even if you decide to take a chance on a possibly shorter disc life, there are two major reasons for buying – organization and presentation. Of course, both motives apply to the home user just as strongly as to the business professional.

Typical Uses For Affordable CD DVD Label Printer

With modern labeling design software and an affordable CD DVD label printer, typical home and SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) uses include:

Archiving and organizing CD or DVD collections of music and photos (and which true-blue collector does not have the odd duplicated disc in his or her collection, which would look much better with a scanned image of the original printed on to the duplicate disc?);

Organising – Creating your own labels will make it easier for you to identify what’s on your archive CDs or DVDs just by looking at them;

Personalizing – An increasingly common use is to distribute personalized photo collections of special events, such as a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or a special holiday;

Friends and family are starting to share photos on CD/DVDs – and in our style-conscious society, it does make a good impression when you add a customized label;

What about creating family photo archives or organizing your data backups properly?

Any or all of these activities are a breeze with the right CD DVD label printer.

While Dymo has a large label printer range, the Dymo DiscPainter is a specialist machine designed to print directly to disc, and is getting many favorable comments from buyers.

Priced at just under $280, the Dymo DiscPainteris quiet, fast, easy to use and gives good results.When running at 600 dpi (normal) will label a disc in 60 seconds! Most users will run at 1200 dpi to get the higher quality.It has a small footprint (great if your working space is limited), with no accessories or trays to keep track of. The ink dries quickly – no waiting around.

Dymo Discpainter Uses Printable Discs

Because the Dymo DiscPainter is a print to disc unit, you must use the special discs called injet-printable discs. They are freely available as standard-size CDs and DVDs, and are also available as mini (80mm) CDs, DVDs and DVRs (which are for camcorders).

The DiscPainter prints on the full surface of the disc; Dymo suggest you print your data first before printing the label.

Depending on the result you want, you can use either glossy or matt discs. However, the machine does not accept thermal discs, which also have a white printable surface but must not be confused with discs for injet units.

The DiscPainter uses 4 colors and so does not deliver quite the standard you would get from the higher-end 6-color inkjets.

The DiscPainter™ printer uses a special cartridge (part number 1738252); these are widely available from local suppliers, or can also be bought direct from Dymo.

Special Warning System for Dymo Discpainter Cartridges

The system has a built-in warning light system that gives a quick check on ink levels. You get a yellow when the level falls below 20% and a solid red when it hits 5%.

As with most modern printers, changing cartridges is quick and easy.
Runs on Mac or PC (but won’t run under 64-bit Vista).

Customer Support:

The Dymo web site has links to software and driver updates, and an extensive FAQ section.

Choosing the correct CD DVD label printer for use at home or in smaller businesses can save you time, money and sometimes damaged equipment. It is always a trade-off between price, quality and probable monthly volume.

Choosing the correct DVD label printer for use at home or in smaller businesses can save you time, money and sometimes damaged equipment.

If you want to make sure you get the right printer you’ll need to balance a trade-off between price, quality and probable monthly volume.

It could be labelled as a DVD label printer, but will obviously should really be called a CD DVD label printer, as it will work on both types of disc.

For the low volume user (somewhere around 3 or 4 discs a week) the product range is not enormous, and prices vary from under $100 to about $400. Most products will work with PC or Mac, although the choice of label software for Mac might be a little more restricted than for PC.

Then there is a big volume jump for anyone wanting to use a dvd label printer for, say, 50 discs a week – perhaps not enough to justify going to a disc-duplicating professional, but enough to put serious strain on the cheaper machines, not to mention the strain on the budget. In this area, the prices will range from $1000 to about $5000.

Why Label DVDs?

But why label discs in the first place? What’s wrong with handwritten text using a permanent marker, commonly known as a sharpie?

Quite apart from looks and ease of indexing, there are some very good reasons not to use some types of marker pens on CDs and DVDs:
• Cheap discs can be damaged by the solvents in markers or adhesive stickers; (although this is not as much of a problem with a DVD, which is constructed differently to a CD);
• They won’t look very professional;
• They’re much more difficult to sort through to find the one you want.

Business benefits of a DVD label printer.

In this digital age, companies use DVDs to hold information, to distribute presentations, to show videos. These discs are distributed internally and also to customers and business partners – and appearance is all-important.

CD DVD label printers offer a perfect solution. They are affordable, offer high-resolution printing in bright colors, and the more expensive models allow a substantial number of DVDs to be produced quickly and to a high standard.

Using adhesive labels

If you’re going to print on to a label, your best option is to choose a label pack with special pre-cut circular labels (and often a special applicator).

If you’re going to stick on a label there are some facts you need to be aware of:
• Labels can peel off and damage the drive;
• At in high speeds the labels often put the disc off balance and make it unreadable.
• Stick-on labels can damage disc drive bearings.

Inkjet DVD label printer options

If you go the inkjet route, you can choose between a conventional printer that you will need to use with special pre-printed label sheets, or alternatively go for a conventional printer that also has a special tray that enables you to print directly on to a disc.
There are advantages and drawbacks to this approach (see this article about caddy problems on some inkjet DVD label printers),

Direct print to CD or DVD

If you decide you’d rather not take a chance on stick-on labels, you can always consider buying a CD DVD label printer that will print direct on to the disc.

Here there are also two different technologies to consider; one is the inkjet direct-to-disc printer, and the other is a thermal DVD/CD label printer.

There is a very sharp price divide in this category. While the Dymo Discpainter retails for less than $300, an automatic unit like the Primera Bravo SE Autoprinter is about $1000, and as you add features and speed the price climbs steeply past the $5000 mark.

Thermal DVD label printer

Finally, you have the option of the thermal CD DVD label printer, which works with transfer ribbons and which is most suited to labels with text and logos, but no graphics. The cheaper products print in one color only, the most common being black, red, blue or green.

These do not require specially-treated discs, and this type of DVD label printer will work perfectly well on standard CDs or DVDs.
